I don't send many IM messages and the ones I send don't get responses. I mainly send them to girls close to me who have looked at my profile while on IM, so I have at least a small expectation of a response. Nada! :=S I assume I'm doing something wrong, but if so it's probably mechanical rather than literal. I keep it short, since I assume IM is a poorly designed alternative for the kind of illiterate attention-seekers who use twitter. I also keep it low key but somewhat provocative, because poor design shouldn't dictate taste... and the point after all is to generate interest. Maybe I should be more patient, but after a few minutes, I run out of other things to do while I'm waiting for them to pick up, then log off and wander back to more interesting pastimes. Really effective scowl, by the way. Maybe if you'd used that you'd have had fewer scary adventures. But I'm glad you didn't, because I love your sweet, submissive, surrendering nature.
