Gotham

Ive always been the one that comes late to the party when it comes to tv shows.
I guess i hate when people exclaim it is must see tv or ask why arent you watching?

So i started to binge watch gotham.
The first question that pops up from most people is how can you have a batman based series without batman?.
The show really is a lil onion...it slowly gets peeled back and gradually revealed. You dont want batman or the joker front and center from day 1.
Part of the fun is the drive...cause you know what is down the road..

Gotham is a sly nod to the fanboys in the crowd. Gotham is filled with mob bosses and gangster more so than clown princes of crime.
It really reflexs how batman the comic started out in the early days..

So yeah the backscenes are filled with future batman villians...such as catwoman...shown now as a 13yr old or the riddler working for the police as a dexter sorta crime scene investigator.

What really is fascinating is the performances by the lesser characters..it takes some big balls to cast a basically unknown guy as the riddler or the penguin. But omg can these guys creep the fuck out of you. Shout out to carol kane as penguin's mom..lol

Im only in season 1..but if that is the penguin, makes me wonder about the joker...how fucked up is he gonna be?
How do you out creep someone as creepy as this guy's penguin?

But the great thing about the batman universe is the amount of villians he faced over the years.
So its not like spiderman that has like 6 main ones before going back to the green goblin well..again.

I love the cast...and think the writting is real strong.

Im glad they are coming back for a fifth season. This is the type of show that should take its time revealing things. Unfortuately low viewership sometimes forces the writers hands and the cast ends up in spandex costumes the next season.
Sure people want batman...but the writers deliberately made him like 10 yrs old in the show.

And to be "batman".. you can't be say 15 yrs old and 150lbs soaking wet.

Batman is more like 6'2 250lbs....hence the batMAN...

So im gonna continue bingeing the show
