Forgetting...I doubt there is a magic rule for that. Time dosen't always heal all, but it can come close. Usually the younger the easier it is. That you are there with her will make it far easier for her. Now if I can tell a kid story that has nothing to do with this but maybe you might get a small smile out of it... at one point in time friends had a pair of kids & they grew up with the family dog....( big dog). But friendly to most. Dog & I got along great. One day when I started tesing the kids in a small room.... the dog sauntered between me & them....looked up. I obviously didn’t catch one & continued giving the kids a hard time. Dog slowly leans his 150+ lbs into me...pushing me into the wall, looked meaningful at me and did a very low growl. I got the hint...stopped & we went back to being best buds. Have never forgotten him. Would happily chip in for something large cuddly, who adored her.....with big teeth.

The reassurance you are giving her is making all the difference in the world. Her memory only sees the bad monster and she may never exhibit any signs. The important thing is that you and Thor are by her side through thick and thin.....just that alone will help any emotional wounds. No, the wounds might never disappear yet they have been tended to and treated with love.

Being listened to and believed and respected and consulted. These are all positive lessons that she will learn. Already she knows the power of her voice, you listened and now others are listening. She is going to be ok x
