Rememberance Day....

Had a chat with some Veteran buddies on Sunday and i finally admitted to totally hating the day...said we remember the sacrifices made...who gave their all....the serving Queen and Country thing most days not just on ONE day...i was worried about saying it out loud but each year we sit there with faces like slapped arses and not saying much...it's not a day where we feel we can smile or laugh or anything but be solemn and heavy hearted....but to my surprise they totally agreed and said they wish they had just stayed at home and just be miserable THERE alone all day rather than be in the annual parade etc......and i worked out WHY we were all feeling the same but it took one of us to actually bring it up and discuss it......

For Veterans it's not *Rememberance day*....it's *REMINDER DAY*...and we sure as shit don't need any more reminders that we already have....So it all made sense and it was a wordless no explaination needed agreement...one where we will not repeat something we have done religiously each year...We silently thank every warrior before us and the ones who have served after us...We don't need to be SEEN to be respectfull and thankful to them...it's inside us each and every day...and NEVER leaves our hearts.

It was like progress...A time to change something we have always felt we were doing for others to SEE...when we really shouldn't give a crap whether they see us doing what's expected from them or not...we should only DO what feels right for US...which is what we shall do from here on in .

I can appreciate what you say about reminder day. Probably the same everywhere. We honor all who have marched in previous parades and those who recently served. If you were in combat/difficult institution who wants to relive it. I would imagine most want to move on from horrible memories.

Honoring the dead, I suppose help the families who have grieved. Perhaps not . Politicians like to use days like this to drum up Patriotism and often support for Military Procurement pans or to justify some War........which is from time to time through history proven to be folly when directed by politicians and not trained Generals and others military minds. Or as a distraction for other issues.

Anyway, you have a good perspective on such days.

Thank you DD...I think i make it clear that those warriors who have given their all including the ultimate...their lives...we remember honor and respect them inside us each waking day...it starts when you first swear the oath and put on the cap badge and wear the boots...there is no END date however...they are in our hearts and on our minds like a tattoo that is never removed...For the families of lost ones i hope it's a comfort and something that i hope makes their hearts almost burst with pride but with inevitable grief and sadness..They too must feel it frequently if not every waking moment...I was merely speaking about how we..this year..decided that we no longer feel it's necessary for us to SEE that sadness and grief of others..We have our own in abundance...and it's in most part unseen by others..we feel it privately..we feel it as we do the grocery shopping...as we take a shower..as we eat a pizza..as we sleep and as we breathe.

I think for me, these days are to remember and respect those who chose to serve. I have family and friends who have served. I can remember the day I chose NOT to serve and took another path. We must also teach the next generation to respect people who are willing to do the things they won't so they can have the life they want.

I must admit that i am concerned for this next generation you mentioned..It's a fact that the Army is finding it more and more difficult to recruit new Soldiers..Well it is here in the Uk...I know that President Trump made it a priority to replenish the head count in the US Military after the god awful loss of troops in a god awful and sinister conflict in Iraq-Afghan..I don't know a single Veteran that doesn't want Bush Jnr and arsehole Blair up on charges of War Crimes..with the blood of SO many Warriors on their hands..But during sinister times in general here in Britain the head count in the Military is a huge concern..With a corrupt government who have betrayed the British public..and are destroying the Country they are meant to be protecting and defending and paid to Serve from within by allowing more danger into our midst because the people who are dangerous are their ONLY voters now that they have wronged and deceived the majority of the British population...They have pissed on their own chips so only serve ONE part of the population..and keep adding to it...Like making a deal with the Devil for a tick at a voting poll station..It is being *deemed* that what you said...i.e *the next generation willing to do the things needed so they can have the life they want* is NOT their future..and won't be anyones' future here..and unbelievably it has created the opposite effect it would have created in MY generation..I can't say this about each and every one of the next generation but it is shocking and surreal here how they have suddenly become peace loving pacifists..maybe thinking this will change everything WRONG that is unfolding here...I personally am APPALLED by their attitudes and behaviour..They are like brain washed androids..Anti-War..Anti-Military and Trump may as well have horns protruding from his head..as he attempts to disarm Iran these young pups are actually deeming him as a big BULLY and needs to leave poor innocent Iran alone..I would say *Let's see which tune they are singing when the unpredictable lunatics in Iran press the buttons on state of the art nuclear weapons that are capable of destroying mankind*..but THOSE naive mislead young pups won't be singing ANY tune as NOONE else on earth will be because they will be what everyone else will be...ASH...I have decided to no longer feel tormented about their futures...noone tormented over mine..I have done my bit and served my Queen and Country..The next generation here need to grow a pair and get a GRIP about the realities of life and what is happening in the World...Rather than be keyboard warriors on the X Box as they drink copious amount of energy from tin cans..and they are older than i was when i LEFT the Armed Forces...I am 51 now..and have done more than my fair share of feeling burden..If they can't be arsed to make their futures the way they want and need it to be...I SURE AS SHIT won't do it for them..I am afraid that they will be the generation that not only took their eye off the ball...they've NEVER SEEN THE BALL...For those who are different to the ones i just described and ARE showing some form of passion and determination for a great future..They have my respect and admiration BIG time !!!

wars are not heroic. people who are in wars wars commonly are, but that says more about the goodness in us all, rather than coming from war itself.

I find it quite surreal discussing this or giving my opinion on your comment whilst there is a big COCK on the left..Not distracting as this is a place where pics like these are common place...which is ALWAYS off putting because it's almost like having a living room you spend a lot of time in...with wallpaper comprising of about 2 million cocks..long..short..fat..thin...I did tell my mother when i was 4 yrs old that i would need therapy if she didn't take it down or at least papered over it but did she listen ...did she f**k....but it just puts me off considering the subject matter of this post so yeah to whatever you said

Lotus

I think we must always Honour and remember those who fought for us!

I agree that it can be uncomfortable and it is good to express our feelings....

A life spent making mistakes is not only more honorable, but more useful than a life spent doing nothing. George Bernard Shaw
